With 8 consecutive years of successfully nurturing Indian wine professionals, this year’s championship will only be the meanest, toughest, and by far the most gruelling version of the definitive wine competition in India. The quintessential platform for budding wine servers and sommeliers to showcase their skills and earn a spot in the league of the famed few. Institute of Wine + Beverage Studies (IWBS) proudly presents the seventh edition of the Indian Sommelier Championship (ISC)

The best educators of the wine industry solicit your presence for masterclasses to broaden your understanding about your glassware, wines, beers, spirits, and more. Learn the art of presenting, tasting, and serving, your favourite elixir and be judged by a panel of discerning international jury, and a chance to impress India’s most coveted hospitality media, trade professionals, and the vinous cognoscenti with your vinous aptitude to win the highest order in the wine service discipline – The Indian Sommelier Champion.

You’ll be invited for a three day training program where Wi-Not sommeliers will condition you for the technically challenging competition ahead. Learn about the brands, their journey, and what goes on in the wineries straight from the producers themselves at numerous masterclasses. Sharpen your tasting and service skills here as this is your final pit-stop before the deciding lap. Clear a written and a blind-tasting examination and come a step closer to the national finals.

Training Venue
The Pullman Aerocity, Delhi
Sofitel, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai
The top 10 performers at the theory examination will go through a rigorous service and oral examination. They will be judged by the Wi- Not sommeliers and distilled to the top six candidates each from Mumbai and Delhi. These candidates will be presented with a detailed study material which they will be judged upon at the day of the finals. After a gap for self-study, the finalists will make their way to Delhi NCR and will compete for the top spot. The final hurdle before making it to the stage will be a morning theory examination.
Stage is set and the spotlight is on you. You’ll be put live in front of the audiences packed with industry gurus, winemakers, tasters, and the media. The most crucial 12 minutes of your life will test your skills on:
•Opening and serving a bottle of wine
•Properly decanting an old bottle of wine
•Swift sparkling wine service
•Tasting and decoding the wines
•Food and Wine pairing exercise
•Wine and Food pairing exercise
•Beer opening, service, and tasting (introduced since 2012)
•Spirit tasting and appreciation (introduced since 2013)
•Open questions from the judges

Gala Dinner
The hard work is over, and you’ve earned the rights to be pampered and celebrated. The Indian Sommelier Championship team will host a Gala Dinner to celebrate your journey, passion, and success with the industry leaders, General Managers, relevant media, foreign dignitaries, and selected wine aficionados. So share your stories with our guests who will be all ears to learn about your rigorous trainings, late-night studying, and gallant efforts. 
Category awards will be announced and presented during the dinner. The top winners will have to hold their patience encore – sip on their wines a tad longer – as we intend to save the best for last. The winners will be announced and awarded in the presence of these discerning guests at the end of the dinner with a celebration to follow…
