Magandeep SINGH is India’s first French-qualified Sommelier and the oldest wine professional in the country, no not chronologically. The person behind the idea of Wi-Not, he believes that wine should be fun first. Having worked in India for over 7 years, he has a good idea of where and how things stand in the wine world. He divides his time between food and wine work (events, tastings, writing and journalism) and his TV show “Around the World in 85 Plates” on NDTV Good Times

Gurjit Singh BARRY is a WSET-qualified trainer and wine-taster. Wi-Not is privileged to count him amongst its resources for trainings and wine market research. Gurjit is known for his very polished manners and style of conduct sprinkled with his own brand of humour. Trainings with him are serious business but always fun. He has a unique way of involving others as also getting involved himself thus making the class into one compact singular academic entity. He is a poduct of a unique blend of traditional Indian upbringing with a heady mix of European education and international work experience thrown in for good measure.

A certified wine expert and mixologist, Gagan SHARMA pursued his love for beverages Down under, doing his Masters in Hospitality Management (specialising in wines) from Victoria University, Melbourne. and is returned back to impress fellow Indians with his youthful exuberance and vinous charms. Gagan is much like a young wine in many ways; you have to spend time with him before he opens up. He reserves a soft corner for Australian reds, German Rieslings and Gewürztraminer. As much as he loves to experiment with new cuisines, he also has a taste for adventure. His interests include blogging, back to back movie spree, cooking for self, and travelling. He is a music-fanatic and loves being left alone with his PSP. Beef steak and wine rate high on his agenda as also does a Bourbon and cola.

Although many will know Ankit KUMAR as a wine retail expert, few will know that he has a penchant for piercings and, in his even younger days, has been an active wrestler. That should give most of us reason enough to agree with him, especially when we internally don’t. A pass-out of IHM, Pusa, New Delhi, todayAnkit is proving himself well in the wine retail division of the company and adding to our experience stock-pile in the field of wine sales and marketing. His bike and phone always remain engaged as he loves to travel and share stories from his excursions.

Prashant CHADHA may not yet be a full-fledged Sommelier but he is definitely the one with a lot of degrees. Having finished his M.Sc in Hospitality, he joined Wi-Not shortly after and handles retail sales and marketing operations in Calcutta. Soft spoken and almost shy, his external shell rarely gives away the food and wine aficionado that resides within.

A young wine enthusiast having an aura that will indeed leave you amazed. An effective communicator, dedicated, and extremely down-to-earth, Simranjit SINGH wasrecruited fresh out of IHM Pusa and is now taking baby steps in to the wine world. His personal flair never fails to please guests. This true Punjabi-from-Calcutta has a soft corner for Chinese food. When off the floor he keeps himself busy with books, snooker, soccer, and hard rock.

Simon KUJUR graduated from IHM Pusa recently and his passion for wines drove him all the way. Recently on board, the tall lad loves to get the wines to rendezvous with the food. ‘Prosecco’ for him was ‘a love at first sight’, coupled with Prawn Risotto, to him is like a Gondola ride in Venice with a pretty lass. Simon sleeps &  wakes up to soft music but its the metal that gives him the kick. Speaking of ‘kick’, a weekend derby and a chilled beer with friends is how he relaxes.

Paul KUJUR, a product of IHM Pusa, has been enthralled by wines but especially by whisky (Bourbon, we think) ever since he first started. Soft-spoken with a positive attitude, he is ever-ready to take on new tasks. Being an avid gamer, he spends time aplenty on his Play Station, if not absorbed by trance music. Outside of work, Paulie (as he affably goes) can be seen indulging in buckets of Corona and fried chicken.

Sophisticated, astute, independent and soft spoken, and an avid football fan, a lover of jazz and also a heavy metal headbanger, Sherine THOMAS is quite the complex and quirky mix. She likes wine but food is her first calling, as she aspires to join the ranks of Le Cordon Bleu, armed with her wine knowledge of course. Her adventurous zeal will allow her to eat anything under the sun as long as it is not moving or staring at her. An interstate basketball player and an IHM Mumbai graduate, she handles Wi-Not’s online presence and marketing efforts with panache.

Abhishek SEN is an avid footballer, and a cricketer, a state-level table tennis champion, and also a gifted painter, quite a lot for one person. A hardcore fan of Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorcese, and Abbas Kiroustami,he counts “Hungry tide” by Amitav Ghosh, among his all-time favourite reads. Abhishek is mad-crazy about wines and handles the wine cellars at prestigious hotels of the city as also aboard some of the most luxurious trains of India. Sometimes it seems that the only reason he surpassses his previous records is to break them all over again, almost with practiced ease.

Akshay GHARAT, fresh out of IHM Goa, is an out-and-out Mumbaikar. Don’t let his diminutive size fool you, his approach to life is one of selflessness lived under a sign that says, ‘No fear’; and he goes after his wines with the same vigour. A dynamite of a person, he’ll fight passionately for things he feels strongly about. Quite a foodie and an adventurous one at that, he is surely one with a BIG personality, which cannot be easily overlooked.

Amit SHARMA epitomizes the “work hard, pay harder” mantra of life. An IHM, Pusa graduate, he has a keen interest in wines but his bigger skill is perhaps people management and taking control of a situation. An excellent team player, exuding confidence, and inspiring others, he is a great positive influence to have at work. He is accessible anytime, mostly so because he is inseparable from his one true love, his phone.
Truly ambitious and proactive, and mysteriously worried about his age, he is mostly fun company, save for his jokes, if they can be labelled so.

Rachit SHARMA likes singing no matter how much others discourage him. But with work, he is perfectly in tune. Have done a craft course in F&B IHM, Mumbai and then a B.Sc from IHM Goa, he worked in a prestigious hotel before deciding to pursue wines. He loves Indian food but not more than he loves a robust red, or was that vodka…?
