Course: WSET® Level 1 Foundation Certificate in Wines
Duration: One – Day, 10AM – 6PM

The Level 1 Award in Wines is a one-day course offering the basic introduction to main wine styles and gyaan about its various aspects. Best suited for wine enthusiasts, new entrants in liquor trade, Hotel Management students, and front-lineprofessionals looking at strengthening their wine fundamentals . Learn to taste and analyse wines in a systematic approach to describe them like a pro by tasting up to 12 international wines.
As a part of the course you will learn:
- Defining various wine styles
- Factors determining various wine styles
- Characteristics of commonly used grape varieties
- Basic bottle handling skills: preparation, pronunciation, opening, and presentation
- WSET® Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Technique (SAT)
- Wine + food matching principles
- Selling and service skills
- Storage techniques and deterrents
- Health, safety, and legal considerations while serving alcohol
Course: WSET® Level 2 Intermediate Certificate in Wines and Spirits
Duration: Three – Days

The Level 2 Award in Wine + Spirits qualification is intended for liquor trade professionals, hospitality staff, or even keen connoisseurs with knowledge of the broad range of alcoholic beverages who wishes to enhance their wine quotient in a structured manner. Extensive study of various wine styles, production methods, wine labels, food and wine matching principles, and systematic tasting and analysis of up to 40 international wines and spirits.
As a part of the course you will learn:
- Understand the factors that influencing and determining the wine style and its price

- Decode the principal grape varieties used in wine production and their key characteristics
- Study of the important wine producing regions of the world, their climates, dominant grape varieties, and wine styles.
- Using labeling terms on a bottle to deduce the wine style and flavours of still, sparkling, sweet, and fortified wines
- Developing analytical tasting notes using WSET® Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting
- Defining the important production method for sparkling, sweet, and fortified wines Basics of spirits and liqueurs: types, production, and tasting
- Apply the principles of food and wine matching to make recommendations for suitable pairings.Storing, serving, recommending guidelines
- Health, safety, and legal considerations while serving alcohol
Classes will be held for 6 hours each on 8th, 9th, and 10th June followed by a one-hour assessment examination on 11th April
ASSESSMENT
The WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines is assessed by means of a 30 multiple choice questions’ exam to be completed in 45 minute. Candidates are required to get a minimum of 21 questions correct to pass the exam.
The WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits is assessed by means of a 50 multiple-choice questions’ exam to be completed in one hour. Candidate are required to pass with a minimum mark of 55%.
The course will be administered and taught by sommelier Gagan SHARMA and/or sommelier Gurjit Singh BARRY under the authority of IWBS. All examination papers are developed and marked by and at WSET®, London. Upon successful completion for the course candidates will receive a passing certificate and a lapel pin within 6 weeks of the examination date.
FEES
WSET® Level 1 Foundation Certificate in Wines: INR9,500 (inclusive of 12.36% service tax). This includes WSET® recommended Student Study Guide, examination fee, all samples of wines utilized during the course, food samples, and tea/coffee + lunch served during the day.
WSET® Level 2 Intermediate Certificate in Wines and Spirits: INR24,000 (inclusive of 12.36% service tax). This includes WSET® recommended Student Study Guide, WSET’s ‘Looking behind the label’ book Systematic Approach to Tasting Sheets, examination fee, all samples of wines and spirits utilized during the course, food samples, and tea/coffee + lunch served during the day for three days.

HOW TO BOOK?
You can reserve your seat by sending us your pre-registration request at wset@wi-not.biz with the following details:

We will confirm your seat up on availability post which full fee must be deposited to complete the registration process. A cheque made out in the name of ‘Wi-Not Beverage Solutions Pvt Ltd’, payable in New Delhi, must be sent to our address mentioned in the mail along with your name. Ask us for our account details by mailing should you wish to electronically transfer the fees.
CANCELLATION POLICY
In order to cancel your booking write to us at wset@wi-not.biz along with a cancellation and refund request at least one week prior to the course’s starting date. A cancellation charge of INR4000 for Level 1 and INR 9000 for Level 2 will be deducted and the remaining fee will be refunded. In case the request is made less than a week before the start date the fee will not be refunded. In case of cancellation of the course by IWBS full fee will be refunded.
Note: Applicant must be above the legal drinking age in their city.
